In a bid to combat mosquito menace in the region, the District administration has distributed mosquito nets among the residents of Bansipur village coming under Sitapur Development Block in Surguja district. The beneficiaries belong to the primitive Pahari Korwa tribe.
In the absence of basic facilities including power and difficult geographical terrain, the tribe is prone to diseases such as Malaria. As there was no electricity in the area, the administration also distributed solar lamps among the families of the tribe.
The officials concerned believed that with distribution of free mosquito net and solar lamps, the locals will now be able to have a sound sleep without worrying about mosquitoes and flies. The locals expressed their happiness on free distribution of the useful items. They said that now their children will be able to study after sunset and women will be able to make meals for the family with ease.
