Paddy procurement to begin from Nov 16

Paddy-corn procurement by Chhattisgarh Government at minimum support price in kharif marketing year 2015-16 will begin from November 16 and would go on till January 31, 2016.

This year the minimum support price for premium quality of paddy (grade-A) is Rs1450 per quintal, for common variety of paddy is Rs1410 per quintal and minimum support price of corn is Rs1345 per quintal.

Food, civil supply and consumer protection department has issued policy of paddy-corn procurement and custom milling at support price to all the district collectors of State on September 16.

In kharif marketing year 2015-16, maximum limit of paddy procurement has been fixed at 15 quintal per acre linking. Paddy will be procured from registered farmers only. Cooperative societies, in which more than 4 percent decrease in procured stock of paddy has been reported in last three years (from kharif year 2012-13 to 2014-15), will not be authorized to procure paddy from farmers.

There are 113 such societies in state. In work-area of these societies, officers authorized by District Collectors will procure paddy from farmers at existing paddy procurement centres.

Other than the 36 markets (mandi) and 77 small markets (up-mandi) premises used for paddy procurement in last kharif year 2014-15, 21 market and 39 small market premises allotted by Managing Director of Mandi Board will also be used for paddy procurement in year 2015-16.

MarkFed will pay 50 paise per quintal to APEX Bank for supervising the paddy procurement process. Farmers do not need any registration for corn procurement in kharif marketing year 2015-16. As per the policy, wide promotion of corn procurement would be done to inform farmers.

As procured stock of corn was not distributed under Public Distribution System this year, State Civil Supply Corporation will ensure distribution of corn through open-tender process. The loss incurred by Civil Supply Department due to distribution through open-tender system would be reimbursed by State Government.
