Paddy lifting from procurement centers for custom milling is being done across Chhattisgarh on a war footing.

According to the information from Food Secretary Topeshwar Verma, 88.18 lakh tonnes of paddy have been lifted by the millers so far.

The government is also working expeditiously to deposit the rice in the central pool.  Over 25.61 lakh tonnes of quality rice have been deposited in the central pool.

This includes 14.01 lakh tonnes of rice deposited with the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and 11.60 lakh tonnes with the Civil Supplies Corporation, Verma said.

He said the work of paddy lifting for custom milling was being done rapidly this year just like paddy procurement. A record 88.18 lakh tonnes of paddy have been lifted.

The millers have lifted 66.04 lakh tonnes of paddy from the procurement centers, he said.

This year a target has been set to deposit 61.65 lakh tonnes of Arva rice in the pool.
