The paddy farmers, who earlier feared weak monsoon in the district, are now worried about their crops getting damaged by heavy rainfall.

Moreover, by this time of the year, the farmers start taking pest control measures on their farms to protect their crop from attack by insects. However, sudden rainfall in the region is washing away effect of the pesticide and fertilizers while further making the crops vulnerable to pests.“We are taking pest control measures in the morning hours but it rains by afternoon while making our efforts to save the crop from pest attack futile” said a local farmer Gulab.“If it would not rain for another fortnight, the paddy crops will get a new lease of life” prayed another farmer Sonbati Bai.
