Government teachers enrolled under National Child labour Project (NClP) feel their future remains uncertain in Chhattisgarh. “Following the Centre’s directives, special schools established under NClP for child labourers, rescued/withdrawn from working, have been shut down in all 22 States of the country from September 30, this year,” said teachers in a Press conference here.
They further said the Government made alternative arrangements to ensure rehabilitation, education and welfare of the children rescued/withdrawn from working. “However, there is still dilemma over continuing the services of 1,108 teachers and 237 peons, who have been working under NClP in different parts of the State,” they said.
The teachers, most of them completed 18 years of working, added that their future was uncertain as the State Government was yet to take any decision regarding their jobs. “Instead of creating any new post, the State Government should merge the services of teachers with the State Education Department” demanded the teachers.
A delegation of NClP teachers had recently met Chief Minister Raman Singh and Home Minister Ramsevak Paikra to apprise them about their demand of merging them into State Education Department as Grade-III teachers. “Singh and Paikra assured us for soon taking appropriate decision,” said the teachers adding, “we have decided to wait till August 15. By then, if the Government fails to resume our services in the Education Department, we will launch a series of protests in the State.”
