The new Chairman of Bastar Development Authority will only be an MLA from tribal community, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference here, the Chief Minister said that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for per standard bag of Tendupatta had also been raised from Rs 2500 to Rs 4000.
Baghel also announced that the tribal families would get forest rights pattas.
He said that 16 lakh applications for the pattas had been received by State Government and those tribal families who have been living on them before December 13, 2005 or for 75 years would be eligible for the pattas.
The mining contracts for minor minerals would also be given to locals, he said.
Baghel also said that he will initiate talks with the sufferer tribals instead of the Maoist leaders.
He also announced that the innocent tribals who are detained in the jails on charges of being Maoists would be released soon.
