Without the Gandhi family, the Congress party cannot have a separate entity, party leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh said on Thursday, adding Rahul Gandhi is the one who can take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Singh spoke to the media during a day's visit to Chhattisgarh. Before leaving for Bhopal, he offered tributes at Saguan Bunglow to the late Ajit Jogi, the first Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh.
On former BJP Minister Brijmohan Agrawal's claim that there was an upheaval in the Congress due to lack of central leadership, Singh said the BJP and Brijmohan have so much money now that they are starting to auction leaders of other parties.
Earlier, Digvijaya Singh called on Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Health Minister T.S. Singh Deo, Assembly Speaker Dr Charan Das Mahant and other leaders.
