IIM Raipur has initiated a new programme - ‘Thought and leadership’- for the student which will include series of lectures by eminent personalities from the corporate world to share their leadership and managerial experiences. The first day of program opened with interaction with Sudhir Vasudeva, Chairman and Managing Director, ONGC.

Sudhir Vasudeva started off with a thought provoking note-‘what are we doing to transform India and how do we think we can make India a superpower.’ He stated that by Superpower, we do not mean India to be ahead of other nations in population or military power, instead our country should be superpower in expertise, skill set and knowledge. He appealed to the students of IIM Raipur that they being the lucky few to carry their education at India’s most premier institute and hold the responsibility of fortifying the nation for becoming a super power in coming years. He further delivered on meeting the huge demands of the nation, thereby stressing on low number of jobs for the entire nation.

He said there is a grave need to garner this strength of man-power and entrepreneurship is the only solution to fight this issue in today’s scenario. The idea should be to convert knowledge and skill of individuals into entrepreneurs and job creators. One shouldn’t be deterred by the challenges and hard times to be faced in taking these bold steps of live. It is only when one faces challenge; these challenges are moulded to formulate success out of them.

According to the ONGC Chariman, growth should always be inclusive. The word “profit” has not been appreciated a lot. There should be value creation and more than that the value should be social in nature. Prof BS Sahay, Direcor, Indian Institute of Management, Raipur extended a warm welcome to the guests.
