Collector Amit Kataria on Saturday ordered to deduct one-day salary of 48 teachers, who were found absent in a training programme conducted at District Institute of Education and Training in Bastar development block. Kataria also directed the officers concerned to issue show-cause notice to the 48 government school teachers, who were absent during the three-day mathematics training, despite strict instructions to attend the programme organised by the Sampark Foundation.
Sampark Foundation has been imparting training in teaching of mathematic to primary school teachers selected from development blocks of various districts. The foundation has organised a three-day training programme for the primary school teachers of Bastar from June 18. On the first day of the training, 48 teachers were found absent. Taking a serious note of the matter, collector Kataria ordered that the teachers' absence would be treated as 'leave without pay' and the wages would be deducted from their salary. Besides, if their reply to the show-cause notice were not found satisfactory, their unauthorised absence should be entered into the service records, he added.
