On a complaint by farmers of village Jugani in Keshkal assembly constituency on Saturday, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel ordered the construction of a new stop dam. He also asked officials to probe why a stop dam on Bhavardig river collapsed.
The farmers told Baghel when he visited Bade Dongar under that a stop dam was built on Bhavardig river two years ago for irrigation purposes. It was to benefit around 600 farmers.
But just after construction, the stop dam crashed. The farmers have since been denied a source of water for irrigation. The Chief Minister announced the construction of a new one and ordered a probe.
The farmers also sought a maize processing unit and a cooperative bank. Baghel announced the opening of the bank at Bade Dongar.
The Chief Minister had declared Bade Dongar as a sub-tehsil on January 27. On Saturday, he inspected the sub-tehsil office and called for timely resolving of all the cases. He handed over an e-shram card and a health card to the beneficiaries.
During the interaction, 39 farmers of Amgaon sought electricity connection for an irrigation pump. This was granted by the Chief Minister.
The OBC community of Korai Gram Panchayat sought land rights title. Baghel asked the Collector to allocate it as per the rules.
Farmer Shankarlal Shardul said the loan waiver decision of the Congress government had come handy to him as his Rs 5 lakh loan was waived. Now, he had procured two tractors, making farming a better prospect.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced that the primary health centre of Bade Dongar will be upgraded as a community health centre, opening of a Swami Atmanand English Medium School in Kongud, construction of a Mangal Bhawan and building a bridge across the drain on Ghotiamunda Chandabeda road.
He also approved new works proposed in the Danteshwari temple at Badadongar and new school buildings at various places.
