After the formal inauguration of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here, flow of patients has increased in the hospital.In place of 425 patients, 500 reached the OPD during the past two days. Similarly, in wards also 8-10 patients have been admitted. All these patients have been provided medicines with 65 per cent concession, hospital sources informed.
looking to the rising arrival of patients, the AIIMS administration has started appointment of doctors and other staff. According to Hospital Superintendent Dr Ajay Dani a total of 75 faculty and 75 junior-senior doctors are currently working in AIIMS. 100 more doctors are being appointed. Besides nurse and other paramedical staff are also being appointed.
He said that the flow of patients had increased in during the past two to three days. Now the OPD patients have increased to 500. The OPD, which is running in a single room now, will be shifted to the new building within a week, where separate rooms will be available for different departments. He said that even though it is a 160-bed hospital, only 8-10 patients have been admitted in it in the past two days. After some time the number of patients could be increased. The hospital management is engaged in completing all the arrangements in it.
Building construction work is also going on. On getting the building, in place of minor OT, four major OT would be made available, he added.
