The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, is all set to connect the far flung villages of Korba district with the grid, thus bringing electricity to the areas which remained in the dark till now.
An estimated 600 households of Kendai, Khitri and Morga villages under Podi-Uproda tehsil, which is located nearly 80-km from the 2600-MW Korba Super Thermal Power Station of NTPC, would be benefited by this initiative.
The NTPC Power Station would bear an expenditure of Rs 1.27 crore to create infrastructure for power supply to the villages on sustainable basis. As part of this, a cheque of Rs 50 lakh, as the first installment, was presented by Prakash Tiwari, General Manager (In-charge), NTPC Korba to District Collector Rajat Kumar during a courtesy visit to the region at his office here, an NTPC Press release on Saturday stated.
It is to be noted that two villages, Puta and Madanpur, have already been electrified by the NTPC Power Station in year 2012-13.
