NTPC hikes price of electricity: CM

Published on:

The National Thermal Power Co (NTPC) had hiked the price of electricity. State procures it from the Centre, NTPC and the market, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Thursday. He was commenting on the hike in power charges.

The hike in the state has been made due to an increase in fuel prices as the coal and oil market prices have gone up. The rate of imported coal is also higher, he said before leaving for Bemetara.

He said the Central government is responsible for the whole issue.

On the reservation bills, Baghel said there is a provision in the Constitution for the Raj Bhawan to seek information. This stage has been completed.

He said either the Governor should return the bills to the assembly or send it to the President or keep it reserved. The property belongs to the state assembly. As the bills have been passed, there is no justification for any delay.

He insisted that the BJP was against OBC reservation and so the reservation for Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Caste and other poor people have been stalled. It is binding on the Governor to follow the advice of the cabinet but it is regrettable that it is not being done. If the Governor does not accept the opinion of the representatives of the people in the assembly, then that too is unconstitutional, he said.
