The activists of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) on Wednesday staged a demonstration outside the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) office against alleged irregularities in health officers' recruitment process.
A number of NSUI workers led by Sanjeev Shukla reached DME office and shouted slogans against the authority concerned for allegedly giving preference to the candidates having low marks in their mark-sheet over those who passed the examination with flying colours.
"DME had invited applications to fill as many as 700 posts, around four months ago. An MBBS degree was required on this post. However, when DME issued selection list of 400 applicants, it had Ayurvedic and Homeopathic doctors recruited on the vacant posts," alleged Shukla.
He added that around one-and-half months ago, DME had issued another list of 190 recruitments, in which, candidates with 50-55 percentage in their mark-sheet were given jobs instead of those who passed MBBS exams with 60-65 percentage.
The agitated party workers appeared in doctors' attire by wearing white apron during the protest. The NSUI workers urged the authority concerned to take appropriate actions against guilty or they will intensify their agitation.
