National general secretary of National Students’ Union Of India (NSUI) Nikhil Dwivedi and his three colleagues are in trouble for staging a protest while carrying a dog.

Dwivedi and his colleagues had staged a demonstration on Monday in front of the main gate of Digvijay Autonomous College here demanding removal of the Chairman of the People’s Partnership Committee of the College and former legislator  Ramji Bharti.

During the protest they had accused Bharti of continuing in the post illegally and unconstitutionally. Demanding his immediate resignation from the post, they had also shouted slogans against him. They carried a dog during the protest. The NSUI activists also had heated exchange with the policemen present at the site.

Police registered a case against Dwivedi and his two colleagues— Aditya Bais and Biplab Sharma, a day later in this connection on the basis of complaint lodged by Bharti. He said the police action against them were politically motivated. Dwivedi alleged that Bharti is continuing as the president of such committee in three colleges whereas as per rule one person can hold only one post. The NSUI leaders said they are not afraid of the police action against them and they will organise a similar demonstration in the coming days.
