Former speaker of lok sabha and National Peoples Party president PA Sangma said that for awakening and unity among tribal communities his party would launch a country wide campaign.
He agreed that lack of education and unemployment were creating hurdles in the way of development of the tribal community as a whole. There is not only a need to teach them a lesson of unity but also to bring them at one platform on some basic issues, Sangma added.
Before leaving for Ambagarh Chowki to participate in a meeting of Tribal people organised on the occasion of World Tribal Day Sunday morning, Sangma, while talking to media persons at the local Circuit House, said Maoist insurgency in Chhattisgarh can be solved only through dialogue. Citing the example of Nepal Sangma said when Maoists can fight election and capture power in the Himalayan Kingdom then why they can not fight election here and put their views before the people democratically.
For solving the Maoist insurgency problem in Chhattisgarh there is need to take initiative honestly towards that as through dialogue chances of solving decades old insurgency in North east have also brightened, he added.
Referring to the ensuing Assembly election in Chhattisgarh Sagma said the Third Front would contest on 45 seats out of which 5 seats have been allotted to National Peoples Party. He said throughout country condition of Tribal community was pathetic and NPP would put all its power in uniting the tribal people. Former Union Minister and State president of NPP Arvind Netam was also present in the press conference.
