NPP to create GenNext politicians, says Sangma

Published on:

National People's Party (NPP) founder P A Sangma declared that his party would creat a whole lot of new generation politicians from Tribal section of the society at both national and state level. Addressing the media here at Press Club after formally launching his party in Chhattisgarh Sunday Sangma said that NPP was working with a motive to provide not only new direction to the politics but also a new generation of politicians.

Speaking further, he said that his party is focusing on tribal areas to convince minority people come together. If all minority people come together, it would turn in to a majority and would usher in a change in the country.

Giving the example of Uttar Pradesh leader Mulayam Singh Yadav and Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee, he said they were working for minority and downtrodden class. However, of late due to political compulsions or other factors these leaders also are hardly interested in working for minority class people in their states.

Talking about Narendra Modi as a prime minister of India, Sangma stated that Modi seemed a deserving candidate for the post as he has proved his leadership mettle as well as his urge for development in Gujarat. He said, now this is good that people have started talking about the quality and performance of Prime Minister of the country.

Party's state president Arvind Netam said he would work to sort out the problem of Naxalism in the State. He blamed both the Centre as well as the state government for the violence in Bastar in the name of tackling insurgency there. Netam said that solving the problems of trbal people was the equal responsibility of Central and state governments in which both failed miserably so far. Now, there is urgent need to evolve a solution for protecting water, land and the natural forest to save the poor tribal people from ruine, he added. Earlier in the day, Sangma appointed Arvind Netam as state president of National People's Party founded by him and also opened state office of the party at New rajendra Nagar here.

The development is seen in local political circle as his bid to create a turf for himself among the tribal section of Chhattisgarh under the

leadership of Netam who has long political standing as well as experience as he worked both in Congress party and after joining BJP for some time again joined Congress from where he was expelled on the issue of opposing presidential candidature of Pranab Mukherjee and raising the banner of Sarva Adiwasi Samaj.
