Now, the research students of Bastar need not go metro cities for taking PhD. They can take doctorate in more than half-a-dozen subjects from this academic session from Bastar University. In addition, for that, the last date for filling form for the entrance examination of PhD has been fixed as December 30. The examination will be held in January next.
After the establishment of Bastar University, the students of the region, who were so far been deprived of higher education, would get benefits. Every year new units are being introduced in the university. In the first year, research for PhD will be held in eight subjects, including political science, social science, economics, hindi, commerce, wildlife protection, anthropology and english literature.
The students who would do PhD from this university would be taught in such a way that they might know more and more about Bastar and they could introduce others about the culture of the region. Vice Chancellor Prof NDR Chandra said that it would be the efforts of the university that whoever does PhD would work on the problems of Bastar region and give priority to the region. Every possible effort would be made to provide congenial atmosphere and other resources to the research students. Preparations would be made to provide PhD in more subjects, he added.
