Now e-detection of tax evasion, unfit vehicles

The Chhattisgarh government plans to crack down on vehicles running without fitness, tax and other documents.

An e-detection system has been established on all national highways in the state wherein unfit vehicles and those with unpaid taxes will be automatically issued challan when they pass through the toll.

An official communiqué on Wednesday said this step was being taken in view the rising number of deaths in road accidents in the state.

The Transport Department has developed an e-detection portal in collaboration with NIC Odisha to detect such unfit vehicles plying on national highways in Chhattisgarh.

The objective is to collect data of vehicles passing through toll plazas.

In the first phase, toll gates on national highways have been linked with the e-detection portal. Later, data will be collected from mining and industrial areas with the help of ANPR cameras, the communiqué said.

Photographs will be taken when the vehicles pass through the toll gate. The vehicles without legally required documents will be issued challan.

Transport Secretary S. Prakash has appealed the vehicle owners to get all the necessary documents of the vehicle up-to-date.
