Now Dwivedi to abandon Congress?

Published on:

One more leader of Congress is likely to abandon the party right before lok Sabha elections. Secretary of Pradesh Congress Dr Shivnarayan Dwivedi met Chief Minister Raman Singh and said he will decide whether to join BJP on Wednesday.

Dwivedi is reported to be a close ally of Union Minister Charandas Mahant. Along with the post of Secretary of the party’s State unit, Dwivedi also held the post of State President of the Medical Cell. He was visibly upset with the party since Assembly elections. He was expecting a ticket from Raipur (West) and the party had assured that all the leader who were injured in the Jeeram Ghati attack will be allowed to contest. Though Dwivedi too was hurt in the incident, he did not get a ticket from the party.

It may be noted that State President of the Backward Class Cell Motilal Sahu and Secretary of the State unit of the party Anjay Shukla have already ditched Congress ahead of the lS polls for the same reasons. Both the leaders have already joined BJP after meeting the Chief Minister. Dwivedi, too, has signalled of his exit from the party. He also admitted meeting the CM and said that a CBI enquiry must be ordered into the Jeeram attack.

He also criticised the fact that the NIA report on the accident has not been made public till now. He also said that he will give away some major secrets of Congress in a press conference in the coming days. On the other hand, State Congress have decided to question many of Dwivedi’s move. Many more Congress leaders too have indicated to leave the party and merge with BJP.
