In what could be termed as an endorsement for the agenda to provide education to the poor, the Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) has signed an agreement with Christel House, an International charity with a proven track record in breaking the cycle of poverty through educating children.

This project is the brainchild of PWD, Housing and Environment Minister Rajesh Munat. As a part of this deal, NRDA will provide land and infrastructure for a Christel House school in Naya Raipur. The Christel House will apply its experience and resources in a variety of disciplines including teaching,  community outreach, finance, administration and so on to educate impoverished children in the State.

CEO, NRDA Amit Kataria said, “Sustainable transformation for the poor sections of the society is the top agenda for the Government of Chhattisgarh. We have taken several measures and launched schemes in the last one year that directly benefit the poor. Education to children is a country-wide initiative by our leader and a key focus for our State.’’

He further said, “We have chosen Christel House, an international organisation, engaged in this field for the last 14 years. We have personally seen their work and the quality of their operations model in both their schools in Bangalore and lavassa.”

The NRDA has entrusted them the task of providing good quality streamlined education and holistic development of the poor children. We are confident that Christel House will deliver on our goals and make the Government proud of its efforts, he said. Christel House was set up in Bangalore in 2001 by business entrepreneur turned philanthropist, Christel DeHaan from USA.

The objective of Christel House is to provide education, nutrition and healthcare to children from the poorest of the poor sections of the society and make them economically independent and contributing members.

According to MD and Chairperson, Christel House India Raju Shahani “We are proud to be a part of yet another State’s drive to provide good quality education and values to children from economically backward sections of society. The Christel House is the only charity that completes the cycle by taking children in Kindergarten, providing them education till Class XII, mentor them to pursue degrees and diplomas at State universities and finally place them in jobs. The partnership with the Government of Chhattisgarh is a validation of our success story in Karnataka and Maharashtra, where we operate our schools in Bangalore and lavassa.’’
