Padmashri awardee and Chhattisgarh's noted sculptor J M Nelson remained busy with his voter awareness drive here on Tuesday even as curtains came down on poll campaigning for the third and final phase of polling in the State.

Nelson during the last two days had visited Ganga Kusht Smiti, Indira Kusht Ashra , Chhattisgarh Vriddh Ashram and Mana Camp Basti in Raipur and had appealed to voters to exercise their franchise.

His persuasion also made lepers take a pledge to cast their vote. Nelson presented the sculptures of Mahatma Gandhi,  Kuldeep Singh Juneja and Kuldeep Nigam to the ashrams during his visit.

He said that like Holi, Diwali, Eid and Republic day , polling day is also one of the festivals in democracy and each of the eligible citizen should take part in it.

Nelson explained the significance of polling in each of the places he visited and stated that one should come forward to use his or her franchise in favour of a candidate who shares your happiness and sorrow, one who understands your problem, one who is easily approachable, one who is always available to you in times of need and to whom you think fit, you should use your valuable franchise in favour of him or her using your intellect. During his drive, Dr Prashant Kanskar, Surendra Rana, Ransingh Nayak and Rajendra Nigam accompanied  him.

Nelson also had a look at the residential project work in progress for the families of residents of Indira Kusht Ashram.
