No great player can change a team in a day, said Shahbaz Nadeem, spinner from Delhi Daredevils over introduction of master-blaster of yester years Vivian Richards as advisor of the team.

However, he said, his presence has boosted the level of confidence in players in the team. Nadeem was talking with media persons at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket stadium on Saturday.

lamenting over the low profile performance of Delhi Daredevils so far in the season six of IPl T-20, Nadeem said, “As a team we just need one match victory to come back. The players of the team are not clicking on time.”

Commenting on the performance of Pune Warriors in the last game, Nadeem said that “definitely we will have psychological advantage over the Pune Warriors who had badly lost their game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore with the lightning performance of Chris Gayle.

Replying to a query that whether he would be able to bowl against Gayle, Nadeem said “it was his (Gayle’s) day, whatever ball he touched was out of boundary for six.”

Performing well in the first 7-8 overs of the match would definitely give us a good start, Nadeem said. On another question about absence of Peterson in the team, Nadeem said, “Peterson is a great player and his presence will definitely make some difference, but we still have some of the best players.”

About his preparations Nadeem said “watching videos of different batsmen has helped me a lot. While performing on the ground I keep it in on back of my mind that how to bowl for any particular player.”

According to the young spinner who hails from a small town like Ranchi of Jhankhand, “IPl is a good platform for youngsters.

IPl has provided great opportunity for youngsters. We can be seen in whole world and assess our caliber,” Nadeem said. Responding to the criticism on the team’s poor show Nadeem said “every time we arrive in the field we strive hard to win and want to play well. If you see we have lost in some neck to neck matches. luck matters,” Nadeem concluded.

For the first time the IPl match will be played between Delhi Daredevils and Pune Warriors at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket stadium, Raipur, on Sunday.
