No need for agitation by BJP on paddy: Min

Chhattisgarh Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Ravindra Choubey on Sunday said there is no need for any agitation by the BJP on the issue of paddy procurement.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had already announced that the procurement of paddy on support price will be done from all registered farmers.

Reacting to BJP’s planned agitation for extending the last date of paddy procurement, Choubey quoted the Chief Minister as saying that if needed the date will be extended, as rains had       disrupted the procurement.

He said the Congress had never promised to give Rs 2,500 as monthly payment to the unemployed youth. The government has already announced a State Employment Mission through which efforts will be made to provide jobs and assist in self-employment.

The Minister said the BJP state President should have written to the Prime Minister instead of Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

Taunting state BJP leaders, he said they cannot dare to ask questions from the leaders of the BJP regarding the assurance given to the country of providing 2 crore jobs every year.

The BJP leaders should also seek around Rs 32,000 crore due from the Central government to Chhattisgarh, he said.
