Here is a good news for citizens who do not like too much sound pollution in their vicinity.
The Chhattisgarh Government authorities are taking measures to curb noise pollution on roads and other public places and putting use of high decibel noise producing equipment under check.
The concerned officers have taken a serious note of menace of noise on the health of the general public, officials stated.
The Housing and Environment Department has issued a circular to all the District Collectors regarding the issue.
Housing and Environment Department Principal Secretary Aman Kumar Singh in a circular to all the District Collectors instructed them to establish a Complaints’ Cell with regard to registering complaints against the sound pollution menace.
A senior officer should be appointed to take complaints and action should be taken as soon as possible. The District Collectors should call upon the police and home guards to monitor and patrol areas to look for violators of sound pollution. Awareness drive should be carried on among the masses, he said.
Singh in the circular cautioned against the usage of high-decibel sound producing instruments in densely populated areas which is having a detrimental effect on the general health of the society. The sound is crossing the prescribed decibel limits.
The usage of loud speakers and public address systems should be done on the written permission of the competent authority.
High-decibel sound producing systems should not be allowed between 10 pm to 6 am anywhere in the State. The instruments should not produce sound more than the prescribed decibel limits. Horns should not be used in the nights in the residential areas and silent zones, he said.
