No Modi wave in the State, says Mahant

The Union minister of State for agriculture, Charan Das Mahant, has said that there is no effect or wave of Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, in Chhattisgarh.

Addressing a large gathering here that was dominated by  women supporters before filing his nomination papers for the Korba lok Sabha seat on Saturday, Mahant said that a few months ago Modi had come to campaign here. “The impact was that the sitting Congress MlA won by a bigger margin,” he added.

Quoting a Chhattisgarhi phrase, Apan Munh Jo Kare Badhai lodha kahe Monh Shivji ko Bhai (someone who praises himself is like a rolling stone, who claims to be lord Shiva’s brother), Mahant said that Modi aspires to be the country’s Prime Minister but he does not have the courage to resign as the Gujarat Chief Minister before contesting the lok Sabha election.

“By contesting from two constituencies, Vadodara and Varanasi, Modi has shown his lack of confidence,” he added. Senior Congress leaders TS Singhdeo, Ramchandra Singhdeo, legislators Gurumukh Singh Hora, Jaisingh Agarwal and Motilal Devangan accompanied Mahant at the time of filing papers.
