Published on:

The State Government on Monday announced that there would be no interest charged on loans advanced to farmers  between April 1 to May 31 if they are lifting fertilisers from co-operative societies in advance during the period.

This was being done to motivate farmers to ensure advance lifting of fertilisers, an official statement issued here stated.

District Collector Bhim Singh has appealed to the farmers to ensure lifting of fertilizers during the aforesaid period from their respective co-operative societies so that they can utilize the same for their farms.

The godowns would be stocked once again as soon as the fertilizer stock is lifted by the farmers, he said. It may be mentioned here that the total storage capacity of fertilizers in Dhamtari district is 8,900 metric tonnes while the demand for fertilizers stood at 21,146 metric tonnes.

The demand for fertilizers can be met by opening ‘Double lock Centre’ and the ability to stock fertilizers with storage facility of co-operative societies atleast two to three times again once the same gets exhausted.
