There is no place for violence in our Constitution. Unfortunately, people who reach to the altar of power taking swears of Constitution are hardly serious to solve the issue of insurgency, lamented Swami Agnivesh of Bandhua Mukti Morcha and added that unless the land rules framed for Tribal people are implemented honestly the issue of Maoist violence could not be solved.
Talking to journalists on Friday at the residence of Bilaspur Mayor Vani Rao, Agnivesh claimed that it was his firm belief that without a Tribal governor or a tribal chief minister problems of Tribal people could not be tackled as only a tribal could understand the problem of trials.
Coming hard on the state governor, Agnivesh demanded immediate removal of Shekhar Dutt alleging that he sent a false report to the Centre on Naxal attacks in Bastar.
Swami Agnivesh said that Maoist insurgency issue has emerged as a serious problem not only for Chhattisgarh but also 8 other states in the country. Today, the Maoists have strayed from their path and adopted violence to further their goal, however, main reason behind this shift is that the Tribal society has been deprived of their basic rights.
Agnivesh charged that steps taken by the State Government for tackling the insurgency problem was not sufficient as the honesty needed on the part of the administration for a solution to this vexed issue is nowhere in sight.
Citing the incidents of Sarkeguda fake encounter and Jhaliamari ashram rape case, which brought the country shame internationally, Agnivesh opined that it was duty of Dutt that as the state governor he should have visited the victim family personally and given them moral support but he not only failed in that task but also allegedly sent wrong information when the Centre asked for a report.
