No DFOs yet in three new districts of Chhattisgarh

Published on:

Call it red tape, but this still rarely happens in the All India Services postings across the country.

Sample this—There had been no postings of Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) done in three districts of  Chhattisgarh which came into existence last year.

The official line reportedly is that there had been no permission received as yet on formation  of the ‘forest circles’ in the three districts.

The formation of Baloda Bazar Forst Circle is still pending while being detached from Raipur while Balod and Mungeli are also awaiting a 'forest circle'.

Balod has merged with Durg Forest Circle while Mungeli has merged with Bilaspur Forest Circle.

It was learnt that in a recent conference of district collectors the issue was raised even by them on non posting of DFOs.

The collectors at the conference had urged for early posting of DFOs so that development work in the forest circles are carried out without any hassle.

It was also learnt that the Finance Department was forwarded a file on the issue of DFO postings but the permission is yet to be received.

The Chhattisgarh Government formed a total of nine new districts last year.

Out of the nine districts, three still await posting of a DFOs and six districts underwent a name change after their formation.

Notably the North and South Sarguja had a name change in their forest circles as Surajpur and Balrampur Forest Circles respectively.

A forest circle in Kondagaon already exists.

There was no forest circle formed in Bemetara as the region was merged with Durg district. On the other hand, the work division in the Raipur Forest Circle is also awaiting a decision.
