Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr Charan Das Mahant on Thursday said the no-confidence motion moved by the Bharatiya Janata Party and other parties will be taken up for discussion on July 27.
The Speaker said that he had received the motion moved by Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik and others stating: "This House expresses no-confidence in Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and his cabinet."
He asked those supporting it to stand up. The BJP along with Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (J) leaders stood up. He said as the requisite one-tenth numbers are present, the motion is accepted for discussion.
He said the discussion will be held from 12.00 noon to 5.30 pm.
The Opposition stalled the House on Wednesday seeking a statement from Baghel on the relinquishing of the Panchayat and Rural Development department portfolio by Cabinet minister T.S. Singh Deo.
The Baghel government has a majority of 71 MLAs in the 90-member House.
