Urban Development and Administration Minister Amar Agrawal on Tuesday announced that the National Urban livelihood Mission (NUlM) would also be launched in city panchayat limits of the State.

Chairing a review meeting at Raipur, the Minister said that the project would be linked to beneficiaries who would be provided loans from banks and even grants for self employment.

Agrawal said that building permissions will not be granted in urban areas without rain water harvesting infrastructure.

The Minister also directed that the CMOs of Nagar Panchayats be served with show cause notice if the revenue collection had been below 50 per cent.

Due to rapid urbanisation, the number of new houses had gone up . A survey needs to be conducted to broad base the tax base, he said.

All urban bodies will have to pay electricity bills from their own resources . The State government had paid the bills till March 2018, Agrawal said.
