NGOs unite against Swagat Vihar's layout cancellation

Several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) here held a meeting on Sunday to devise a plan to launch a protest against the cancellation of layout of the Swagat Vihar Colony.

Besides, cancelling the map, which was passed by the administration and was given a green signal for construction, the town and country planning department has also rejected the approved layout for the New Swagat Vihar.

The decision has affected hundreds of people who had invested in the project. “The media reports on irregularities in the Swagat Vihar case are disturbing. We have demanded that the officials call upon the registered land owners and save them from doing the rounds of their offices. The administration is equally at fault and therefore they must recover the financial losses caused to the land owners in this deal,” said Veerendra Pandey.

Representatives of the NGOs also demanded that strict action must be taken against all the Government officials who are directly involved in the Sawgat Vihar project. The alleged one-sided probe in this matter is a matter of concern, the NGOs said.

They said that although the plan was passed by the government officers, no action has been taken against them till now. The organisations also warned against a larger stir if their grievances are not taken into account.

Representatives of Swabhimaan Andolan, Chhattisgarh Jankalyan Samiti, Hamar Sangwari, Nadi-Ghati Morcha, Satsankalp Samiti were present in the meeting.
