AICC general secretary and in-charge of Chhattisgarh inspected a model ‘Gauthan’ developed under state government’s flagship programme ‘Narva, Garuva, Ghuruva avum Baadi (NGGB)’ at Kachardih village in Mahasamund block on Saturday.

Addressing the gathering Punia, who is also a Rajya Sabha member, said the state government is committed to revive rural economy. For this the four identities of the state covered under the NGGB scheme, are being taken care of, he added.

“It is a unique scheme in the whole world. The experiment should be successful though it’s quite challenging,” the Congress leader said.

The scheme is not that of the government but it’s of the common man, so each one should derive maximum benefit from it by ensuring their active participation, he said. As it is linked to culture and traditions of the state, there is a need to protect and conserve it.

At present the scheme is being implemented in selected villages and it will be further expanded, he said. He urged the farmers to use the compost prepared by women SHGs from ‘Gauthans’ in their crop fields. It will help to increase soil fertility and better production.

Urban administration and development minister Shiv Kumar Dahariya said the scheme is meticulously planned to develop local resources and conserve environment. Commercial tax (excise), industries and Mahasamund in-charge minister Kawasi Lakhma was also present.
