Bastar division will now get power supply from Barsur in Dantewada district as well as Kanker as the new transmission line between Kanker and Kondagaon has gone live. The power supply from the new transmission lines will bring relief to people who were facing problems due to low voltage. Chief Engineer CSPDCl, Jagdalpur, RB Tripathi said the 132KV line transmission line between Kanker and Kondagaon has gone live at 3.10 pm. With this, Bastar division is getting power supply from Barsur as well as Kanker. The 90-km-long transmission line between Kanker and Kondagaon took more than three years to be installed. With this, a ring has been formed from Gurur to Barsur, Jagdalpur, Kondagaon, Kanker and back to Gurur. Earlier, the voltage used to go down before reaching the last feeder from Kondagaon and people had to face problem of low voltage. The project completed with an expenditure of Rs42 crore will benefit more than 12,000 consumers of the area. Meanwhile, shutdown has been demanded by the maintenance contractor to recharge the transformers of Jagdalpur city.
