Taking note of the high rate of sand being charged by the suppliers, the district administration on Thursday decided on the new rates. The new rates are almost half of the existing rates of sand and strict action will be taken against those who charge higher rates, official stated.
According to the new rate, a dumper or truck with 500 cubic feet of sand will cost Rs 3500 while vehicles with lesser capacity will cost less than Rs2500 per truck.
The district administration was receiving regular complaints related to overcharging by sand suppliers. The suppliers offered reasons like closure of Ghat etc to extort extra money from the customers. They made double money for paying less to the State Government, officials stated.
Additional Collector Ramesh Sharma held a meeting with District Mining Officer Mahipal Singh Kanwar and office-bearers of ‘Ret Parivahan Sangh’ on Thursday. The officers held discussions on different aspects and expenses incurred in transportation of sand.
The officers in consultation with the office-bearers of Ret Parivahan Sangh decided new rate for sand. According to the new rates, a dumper or 10-wheel truck with a capacity of 500-550 cubic feet of sand will cost Rs3500.
The rate of sand supplied in vehicles with capacity less than 500 cubic feet will not be higher than Rs2500. The new rates have been pasted at the office of district mining officer.
Sharma said that the rates have been decided and if any complaint of overcharging is received, strict action will be taken against the guilty. Complaint in this regard can be lodged with the Office of District Mining Officer or the Additional Collector.
