Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary R.P. Mandal on Tuesday directed officials to take necessary steps within a week to open new paddy procurement centres based on the need.
He was holding a meeting of the Food and Cooperative departments at the Secretariat (Mahanadi Bhavan), Atal Nagar.
The government has announced the start of paddy procurement from December 1. The officials held discussions on different aspects of procurement in the state.
Apart from establishing new procurement centres, the platforms at the existing centres should be completed before the end of this month, said Mandal.
He wanted an eye kept on illegal transportation and illegal sale-procurement of paddy.
The officials also discussed the Godhan Nyay Yojana. The topics taken up were security, arrangements in offices, construction of tanks for vermi-compost and others.
Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) Amitabh Jain, Food Secretary Dr Kamalpreet Singh and other officials were present.
