New guidelines for home-isolation

Published on:

Chhattisgarh's Health and Family Welfare Department on Monday issued new guidelines for home isolation amid a surge in Covid-19 cases.

The doctors have to provide primary medical facilities to people found positive even if they have mild or asymptotic conditions.

The patients have to be provided a helpline number at the district or sub-district control room so that they can seek right information and guidance, an official communication said.

Regular contact has to be made to monitor the medical status of home-isolated patients for seven days. If in the last three days, no fever or any other symptoms are found, the concerned doctor will decide whether to end the isolation or not.

The patient needs to be kept in a separate room with ventilation and a separate toilet. If senior family members, pregnant women, persons with comorbidities are present, they should be advised to keep away from patients due to high risk factors.

The patient has to sign a home-isolation undertaking and the attendant has to ensure that all guidelines are implemented.

The patient has to wear a triple layer medical mask which has to be changed after every eight hours.

Patients should take more liquid on a regular basis and increase intake of high protein food, vegetables and fruits instead of carbohydrates.

No medicine or tests should be conducted without consulting the doctor. If the fever is not under control, the doctor should be consulted. Intake of steroids is not advised.

In case an oxygen-level drop is observed, the patient should be immediately admitted to hospital.

Patients once recovered after home isolation have to strictly follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB). It is not mandatory to conduct a test on recovery.
