The new Anganwadi buildings being built in Chhattisgarh are being given the look of ‘play schools’, officials informed.
Notably, the State Government had sanctioned 3691 Anganwadi bhawans to be built soon at the Panchayats. Many are in various stages of construction.
They are being constructed jointly under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) and by State Women and Child Development Department.
The Anganwadi buildings are being given the look of Play Schools in urban centers so that kids are attracted towards the facilities. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ajay Chandrakar in a recent Departmental meet said that children are inherently attracted towards colours and paintings. It is a call of times to evolve Anganwadis as play schools, he said.
The Department officials said that 113 Anganwadi Bhawans had already been built and 2459 Anganwadi Bhawans are under various stages of construction.
