The newly constructed 132/33 KV sub-station in Pulgaon area of Durg and attached transmission lines were energised in presence of the Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company limited (CSPTCl) Vijay Singh and other senior officers on Friday. A 40MVA capacity transformer has been installed in the sub station, officials said.

Singh said that 9 km long transmission lines have been laid for an expense of Rs5.5 crore for the new substation constructed for Rs14 crore.

The construction of sub-station was started by the company in December 2012 with target to energise it at the earliest. The construction and energisation of the sub-station has been accomplished as per plans, he said. Prior to energization of the new sub station, the power supply in this area was done by 132 KV sub-station Bhilai and Ruabandha while the industrial supply was done from Rasmada. Due to this, the residents faced problems in electricity supply. The energisation of the new sub station will relieve people from the electricity problems as they would get regular supply. The entire Durg city will benefit from the new substation, officials said.

CSPTCl has identified areas where urban, rural, agricultural, industrial, domestic and commercial consumers are facing low voltage problem. The company has taken prompt steps to establish sub stations and lay transmission lines to resolve the problem. With energisation of the new substation in Pulgaon, the total number of high tension sub stations in the State has gone upto 88 which were just 27 at the time of formation of the State, the officials added.
