Need of the hour is to be safe: Baghel

Underlining that the need of the hour is to remain safe, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday urged children and senior citizens to be more cautious vis-a-vis Covid-19 as they are more prone to infection.

Visitors should compulsorily wear masks and practice physical distancing, the Chief Minister told inmates of old age homes in seven districts via video conferencing. Sanitizers should be used often and hands should be washed with soap regularly, he said.

The guidelines issued by the state government to check corona infection are being followed by the people and this has helped in containing the infection to a great extent in Chhattisgarh, he was quoted as saying in an official statement.

Baghel sought details of the facilities being extended in old age homes. “The global pandemic has transformed our daily routine, and the most important need of the hour is to stay safe,” he stated.

During the interaction, Poornima Thawait, an inmate of Dev Samiti Janjgir, said her family members have been visiting her regularly for the last 15 years. She invited the Chief Minister to visit the old age home.

On queries made by the Chief Minister, the inmates of other old age homes said the facilities extended to them are good. Doctors make regular visits to see them. They get food and medicines on time.

Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister Anila Bhendiya, Department Secretary Prasanna R and Director P. Dayanand were present during the interaction.
