The residents of villages coming under Naya Raipur have demanded from the ‘Tehsil Restructuring Commission’ to attach their villages to Abhanpur Development Block instead of Navapara (Rajim).
The Chairman of the Commission, however, turned down their request stating that the villages attached with Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) cannot be attached to other development blocks.
A number of villagers and public representatives from villages coming under Naya Raipur attended the public hearing organised by the Commission at District Panchayat auditorium.
They demanded to attach their villages to Abhanpur development block as their villages have witnessed no development as anticipated by them after they were attached with Naya Raipur.
Apart from the development, the villagers have to suffer for official works since the distance of Navapara (Rajim) Development Block is 12-55 kilometer from these villages. The distance becomes 25 kilometer for the villages on the outer limits.
School children too have to travel long for getting scholarship certificates and other documents issued by the Tehsil office. They not only face inconvenience, but also suffer a loss of time and money in travelling.
On the other hand, the Abhanpur Development Block is just five kilometers away from villages including Upwara. They said that they have been demanding for long to attach their villages to Abhanpur for their convenience but all their requests have been turned down.
Chairman of the Commission SK Mishra said that it is not possible to detach these villages since they have been included in NRDA.
