The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium at Parsada village in Naya Raipur will host matches of this year’s Champions league Twenty20 (ClT20) along with three other Indian cities - Hyderabad, Mohali and Bangalore.
“We are all set to host the matches of ClT20. Ticket pricing will be decided in the next few days,” said Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh (CSCS) secretary Rajesh Dave.Naya Raipur has already hosted a few Indian Premier league (IPl) cricket matches in April 2013.According to a statement issued by organisers of ClT20 — the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), a total of 29 matches will be played in the competition from September 13 to October 4.
The international stadium in Naya Raipur will hold eight matches including all six matches of qualifier stage, in the sixth edition of ClT20, between September 13 and 16.The inaugural match of the main tournament, comprising 10 teams, will be played between reigning IPl champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Hyderabad on September 17.
Apart from KKR and CSK, Group A will comprise Dolphins (winners of South Africa’s domestic T20 competition), Perth Scorchers (Big Bash league winners), and a team from the Qualifier.Group B will feature Hobart Hurricanes (Big Bash league runners-up), the winner of the domestic T20 competition in the West Indies, Kings XI Punjab (runners-up in 2014 IPl), Cape Cobras (runners-up in South Africa’s domestic T20 competition) and a team from the Qualifier.
Each side will play the other four in its group once, with the top two sides from each group going through to the semi-finals.The ClT20 Governing Council has confirmed the teams that will compete for total prize money of USD 6 million.The Qualifier will feature four teams: Mumbai Indians (fourth-ranked team in IPl 2014), Northern Knights (winners of New Zealand’s domestic T20 competition), Southern Express (winners of Sri lanka’s domestic T20 tournament) and lahore lions (Pakistan’s domestic T20 competition champions). In the Qualifier, all teams will play each other once, with the top two advancing to the Group Stage. The top team from Group A will play the second-ranked team from Group B, and vice versa, in the semi-finals, both of which will be played at Hyderabad on October 2. Bangalore will host the final on October 4.
As per the schedule, ClT20 matches to be held in Naya Raipur including Northern Knights vs Southern Express at 4 pm and Mumbai Indians vs lahore lions at 8pm on September 13, Northern Knights vs lahore lions at 4 pm and Mumbai Indians vs Southern Express at 8 pm on September 14, Southern Express vs lahore lions at 4 pm and Mumbai Indians vs Northern Knights at 8 pm on September 16
Besides, two group stage matches including Cape Cobras vs TBD* at 8 pm on September 19 and Hobart Hurricanes vs TBD* at 8 pm on September 23 will be played in Naya Raipur.
