BJP Member of Parliament from Rajnandgaon Santosh Pandey on Thursday claimed that he had received life threats from Naxals.

According to the MP, an RSS functionary based in Bodla of Kawardha District had received the letter in this connection.

“In the letter Maoists had threatened the RSS ‘Pracharak’ to stop their activities in rural and forested regions of Kawardha or he will be brutally killed. The letter which was full of obscene language claimed that I (Santosh Pandey) would not be able to save him and would meet the same fate,” Santosh Pandey said while talking to The Pioneer. Meanwhile, police claimed that they were looking into the matter“Few days back we received the letter and are investigating into it,” DIG (Naxal Ops) Sundarraj P said.

As per sources, the letter was issued by Maoist Kanha Bhoramdev division.

Notably, Rajnandgaon is one of the Naxals violence-hit districts of state which has recorded Naxal violence from time to time. In fact, the first and only IPS casualty of state was recorded in Rajnandgaon when SP Rajnandgaon Vinod Choubey was killed by Maoists in an ambush attack in 2009.
