Naxals set afire vehicles engaged in construction

Four vehicles engaged in construction of roads were set on fire by a group of Naxals in the insurgency-hit Narayanpur district, police said on Monday.

“Four tipper trucks belonging to a private construction company engaged in construction of Narayanpur-Orchha road near Kapsi village under Farasgaon police station limits were burnt by the ultras,” Narayanpur Superintendent of Police (SP), Abhishek Meena said.

According to the SP,  the vehicles were parked at the construction site where road laying work was underway. Around two dozen armed Naxals suddenly reached at the construction site in the morning hours. They threatened the labourers who were engaged in the work and told to leave the place.

The Naxals then torched the vehicles and fled into the jungle, he said.

Security personnel were rushed to the site when labourers informed them about the incident. A combing operation was launched to nab the ultras in the region, Meena said.
