Naxalites on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday had pasted their handouts on each house at the Thokapal block headquarters under Parpa police station area in Bastar district.
They have also tied banner on the channel gate of the district cooperative bank situated in Thokapal. The Parpa police reached the place and seized the banner and handouts on Tuesday morning.
According to police, more than 250 Naxalites have reached Thokapal block headquarters on Monday night and pasted leaflets on each house. Most of the handouts and banners were pasted on market places and bus stand premises. The sudden appearance of the Naxalite handouts spread terror in the area.
It has been a subject of talk among the villagers that even after the presence of large number of security personnel in the area for election, the Naxalites managed to paste huge number of leaflets and banners on the houses at Thokapal village situated on the National Highway in the night. If the situation is such in the roadside, what could be said about the far-flung villages. The villagers in the interior areas have been left at the mercy of God, they said.
The villagers said that the security forces reached for election have been staying at the Thokapal community centre. The Naxalites had dropped large number of handouts last night at about 300-meter from the place where the security forces have been staying. The forces search near the roadside only, they said.
In the leaflets, the Naxalites had mentioned the elimination of the head of the Salwa Judum Mahendra Karma and other Congress leaders was the genuine reaction of the inhuman atrocities, killing and the unending terror on the people of Bastar.
