Naxals kill villager branding him 'informer'

Naxals killed a villager on Thursday suspecting him of being an informer in insurgency-riddled Narayanpur district, police said. The body of 27-year-old Budhram Salaam was found near his native Remawand village under Narayanpur police station limits early on Thursday morning, SHO Amar Singh Komre told reporters.

As per the local tribal residents, a group of Naxals stormed into Budhram's house late night and dragged him away from the village. His body was spotted by the locals outside the village in the morning hours following which they informed police.

A police team rushed to the spot and the body was sent for postmortem, Komre said.  “Prima facie it appears that he was strangulated to death,” the SHO said, adding that a Naxal pamphlet branding him a police informer was found near the dead body. A case has been registered in this connection and a search has been launched in the region to nab the assailants, he added.
