Two brothers, native of Andhra Pradesh, were brutally hacked to death by Naxals in the insurgency-hit Sukma district. They were murdered for not following the Naxal diktats, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sukma, Santosh Singh informed on Monday.

Deceased were identified as Kunja Brahmaiah and Kunja Seetaramaiah native of Burakanakota village falling in limits of Chituru police station of Andhra Pradesh, the APS said. They were abducted from village Burakanakota in Andhra Pradesh last week by Naxals. Duo was killed in a ‘Jan Adalat’ (people’s court) called by ultras in a remote village of Sukma, the ASP informed.

“Branding the duo as police informers, rebels brutally killed them in Jan Adalat held at Durma village under Konta police limits,” ASP Singh said. Preliminary investigation revealed that both were kidnapped on May 1 from their village which is near Chhattisgarh-Andhra Pradesh border. Prima-facie it seems that the victims may have subjected to severe torture before they were killed, the ASP added.

After police got news of brutal execution of two civilians, security forces reached the spot and began investigation at crime scene. Their bodies were sent for post-mortem, police informed. A case in this connection has been registered under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) with Konta police station and police launched a hunt for assailants, said ASP Singh.
