Naxalite menace to end in Chhattisgarh: CM

Published on:

Naxalites are on the backfoot and in the coming days they will be rounded up to end the menace in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Thursday, attributing this to better coordination and joint operations by security forces.

He was interacting with the media after a Unified Command Meeting at the New Circuit House in Raipur.

Senior Advisor to the Home Ministry, K. Vijay Kumar, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain and senior police officials of both central forces and the state government attended the meeting.

Baghel said the state has been following a policy of developing faith, development and security. The number of surrenders has gone up. This shows that the Naxalites are on the backfoot.

There is better coordination among all paramilitary and other forces. Now, most problems are sorted out on the telephone, he said.

On fund collection for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, he said one FIR on fraudulent collection of funds has been registered.

Therefore, information has been sought from the Trust as who is authorized to collect the funds. If any forgery is happening, police will take action, he added.

Baghel said what happened in the national capital on January 26 was part of a conspiracy to defame and derail the two months long farmers’ agitation. The Centre should adopt Chhattisgarh's model to end the agitation, he said.
