A Naxalite was arrested after a gunfight with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, police said on Monday.
He was apprehended on Sunday from the jungles of Sukanpalli and Chhote Sukanpalli by a joint team of the District Police and CRPF’s elite CoBRA unit, Bijapur Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap said.
"We had launched a search operation in Korsaguda, Aootpalli, Linggiri and Sukanpalli on Sunday afternoon and security personnel came under fire near Sukanpalli and Chhote Sukanpalli," he said.
Some of the Naxalites managed to run after coming under retaliatory fire but one of them, Badru Morimai, a militia member, was nabbed, he added.
Two muzzle-loaded guns, a Maoist bag, literature, detonating cord, detonators, firecrackers and other materials were recovered from the spot, Kashyap said.
