A Naxalite involved in the killings of at least seven security personnel including two Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) officials was arrested in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district, the police said on Sunday.
Pandru Padami, 20, was nabbed on Saturday from Toyameta village, Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Girija Shankar Jaiswal said.
Padami is a close associate of Naxalites’ Amdai Ghati area committee Secretary Suresh Salam, he said.
“Padami was part of a team that executed an incident at Kademeta village in Narayanpur in August last year in which an Assistant Commandant of ITBP Sudhakar Shinde and Assistant Sub Inspector Gurumukh Singh attained martyrdom.
"In this incident, the Naxalite team also looted an AK-47 rifle, a magazine and a bulletproof jacket among other things. He was also behind a blast which killed five security personnel in the district last year,” Jaiswal said.
Following a tip that Padami was spotted in Toyameta village, where he came to damage an under-construction road, police and the District Reserve Guard went there and arrested him, the officer added.
A court sent the Naxalite to judicial custody.
